Stertil Installs FlexiEdge High-Speed Door at DHL Aviation

Stertil has completed the installation of a new FlexiEdge M2 All Weather high-speed door at Heathrow Airport, supporting operations for DHL Aviation.

The project involved the replacement of a previous Stertil-supplied high-speed door originally installed in 2015. Due to the high-traffic nature of the site, the door is subject to frequent daily use, making reliability and performance essential.

Designed for High-Use, External Environments

The FlexiEdge M2AW (All Weather) high-speed door is engineered for demanding external applications. Its robust design helps maintain operational continuity, even in exposed areas, while delivering the fast opening and closing speeds required in busy logistics environments.

At Heathrow Cargo, the fast action door was mounted level with a raised roller deck, ensuring smooth integration with existing loading infrastructure.

Precision Activation in a Busy Operational Zone

Given the constant vehicle and personnel movement in this area, a widescan laser activation system was specified. This enabled fine-tuning of the activation zone on site, ensuring the door responds accurately to approaching traffic without unnecessary openings.

Installation in a Secure Airport Environment

As the project was located within an airport facility, additional planning was required. Working airside can present logistical challenges, with strict access controls and coordination needed.
