Stertil Completes Loading Bay Project at Mountpark Grange Castle West

Stertil Dock Products has completed the supply and installation of a comprehensive loading bay project for five new distribution units at Mountpark Garage Castle West in Dublin, a €325+ million logistics campus located within one of Ireland's premier logistics corridors.

Delivered for developer Mountpark, with TSL Contractors acting as main contractor, the project provides high-specification loading facilities designed to support efficient logistics operations while offering the flexibility to accommodate a wide range of occupier requirements.  

The development comprises four warehouse buildings (Units 1, 2, 4 and 7), ranging in size from 97,000 sq ft to 197,000 sq ft, while Unit 3 has been pre-let to Irish postal service, An Post. The buildings feature clear internal heights of up to 15 metres together with extensive service yards designed for high-volume logistics operations.

The site has also achieved a BER 'A1' rating – the highest possible energy efficiency grade for a commercial property in Ireland – reflecting a strong focus on sustainability and building performance.

In total, Stertil supplied and installed 64 loading bays, 12 level access bays and 49 steel personnel doorsets. 

The loading bays comprise 34 standard single bays and 30 larger Euro bays, enabling the facilities to accommodate a wide variety of vehicle and trailer sizes. 

The single bays were equipped with Stertil S-Series dock levellers, WE dock shelters and Thermadoor 680D sectional overhead doors, while the Euro bays were fitted with extra-long 4-metre dock levellers, WIS inflatable dock shelters suitable for vehicles up to 5,250mm high, and larger sectional doors to maximise sealing performance across a broader range of vehicle heights. 

To protect the loading bay infrastructure from vehicle impact, Stertil supplied PE450 dock bumpers to the single bays and taller PE750 dock bumpers arranged in a staggered formation at the Euro bays. The staggered configuration provides effective protection across a greater range of trailer heights, helping reduce damage to both the building and loading equipment during docking.

Each loading bay was also fitted with Stertil wheel guides to help drivers achieve consistent trailer positioning, improving safety while reducing the risk of accidental impact during docking.

The installation also included LED traffic lights and FLEXLED dock lights to improve both safety and operational efficiency throughout the loading areas. Featuring a flexible gooseneck design, the FLEXLED system illuminates the full length of the trailer while reducing the risk of damage from accidental contact during loading operations. 

Each Thermadoor sectional overhead door supplied as part of the project was manufactured using double-skinned galvanised steel panels bonded to high-density 80mm insulated cores, providing excellent thermal performance alongside long-term durability. Double-height, full-width glazed panels were incorporated to create a brighter working environment while improving visibility during loading and unloading activities.

The doors achieve a U-value of 1.30 W/m²K, supporting the overall energy efficiency objectives of the development and contributing towards the site's BER 'A1' rating.

The project was completed with the installation of 49 steel fire exit doorsets, providing Mountpark with a fully integrated loading bay and industrial door solution designed for long-term operational performance.
